ABOUT US

At Stark Methodist Church, we strive to bring the love and grace of Jesus to everyone.  We desire to go into our world to make desciples of Jesus, to love as he loved, to see has he saw, to hear as he heard. We desire to go as we are called to fulfill the Kingdom of God starting in our community.  We believe in being in the service of one another using the gifts God blessed each of us to use for his good into this work.

OUR VISION

WHAT WE DO

Creating a welcoming place where imperfect people can gather and experience God's Grace, Jesus's Love and the Holy Spirit's call on our lives.

We pray continuously. We serve selflessly.

We receive grace.  We share joy.

We offer mercy. We experience hope,

We seek peace.

We move boldly in the service that was taught to us through the life of Jesus Christ, making disciples.

BRIEF HISTORY OF STARK METHODIST CHURCH

Stark Methodist Church was organized in 1883.

The Church was first named Weather's Chapel, for C. V. Weathers, the first pastor.  Later this name was changed to "Stark" to reflect the name of the community.  Stark Church was formed by the consolidation of Keys Church and Pleasant Grove Church.

We still worship in the same building, which was built when the Church was organized.  When the Church was first built, it was an unpainted, unsealed, hulled-in frame building.  Originally it was a large rectangular room.  In the early years a pot-bellied stove was in the center of the room to provide heat.  Oil lamps along the walls were used for lighting.  During the years, many outstanding improvements have been made to the building to make it the comfortable, attractive place of worship it is today.
